Birth Site
The birth site of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop is located in the grounds of 7 Brunswick Street Fitzroy opposite Australian Catholic University and just a couple of blocks from Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre.
The site is currently inaccessible due to construction works however will be available to the public in the coming months.
Mary MacKillop was born on this site in Marino Cottage on January 15th 1842. The place where the cottage stood is marked with a raised garden bed and has a bronze brass relief of Mary’s face in one corner.
